Essential Skills at Greenway:

Essential Skills qualifications are available to anyone over the age of 16 in Northern Ireland who wants to improve their literacy, numeracy or ICT skills, either to help secure a job or for ongoing personal development.

An Essential Skills qualification can help improve your reading, writing, maths or computer proficiency to make you more employable across a whole range of different jobs.

Greenway Women’s Centre hosts OCR Basic Skills Awards for Literacy, Numeracy and ICT at Basic, Level 1 and Level 2 through Belfast Metropolitan College (Belfast Met) community courses. We also support progression routes for participants, both within the Centre and with other learning providers.

Greenway’s Essential Skills courses operate on two levels:

  • Group Sessions for participants to complete the OCR qualification
  • One-to-One Sessions for individuals who require additional support.

Greenway’s objectives are to target adult learners who have Essential Skills needs and to provide training that will enhance personal development as well as career and educational progression.
